Why a Treadmill at Home Can Be Your Best Investment

Waarom een loopband thuis, je beste investering kan zijn

Move more. We all know it's good for us. Yet, in practice, it turns out to be surprisingly difficult to make time for it every day.

Go to the gym after a long workday? Take that walk outside when it's raining? Or leave the house in the evening when the couch actually sounds just a little more appealing?

The problem is often not that we don't want to exercise. The problem is that exercise doesn't always fit easily into our daily lives.

And that's precisely where a home treadmill can make a surprisingly big difference.

The best workout is the one you actually do

You can have the perfect training plan, but ultimately, results depend primarily on one thing: consistency.

A home treadmill removes a few small obstacles. You don't have to go anywhere, you're not dependent on opening hours, and bad weather suddenly no longer exists.

Half an hour free? Walk.

Favorite show on? Walk.

Another phone call for work? Walk.

You don't have to turn every instance of movement into a complete workout. Precisely because a treadmill is always within reach, it becomes easier to incorporate exercise into your normal day.

10,000 steps don't have to be taken outside

A common challenge is getting enough daily exercise. Especially if you have a sedentary job, surprisingly few steps can be recorded at the end of a workday.

With a home treadmill, you can utilize those moments much more easily.

Twenty minutes of walking before breakfast, a walk during a phone call, or some evening exercise while watching television.

Separately, those moments feel small. But added together, they can make a significant difference in how much you move throughout the week.

And perhaps more importantly: it doesn't feel like your schedule suddenly has to revolve around working out.

You don't have to run

When many people think of a treadmill, they immediately think of running. But that's not necessary at all.

Simply walking is perhaps one of the most accessible ways to incorporate more movement into your day. You determine the pace yourself and can make it as relaxed or challenging as you wish.

Twenty minutes of leisurely walking today? Fine.

A little faster tomorrow?

Also good.

And if you eventually want to run or train with an incline, you can gradually increase the intensity.

The most important thing is not how impressive your workout looks. The most important thing is that you move.

Suddenly, a lost half-hour becomes an exercise moment

This is perhaps the biggest advantage of a home treadmill.

You don't always have to make extra time to move more.

Suppose you watch an episode of about 40 minutes every evening. Place the treadmill in front of the television, and part of that time can suddenly also become a walk.

The same applies to listening to a podcast, calling a friend, or even certain work activities.

As a result, exercise competes much less with other things you want or need to do.

An appliance the whole family can use

Furthermore, a treadmill is not limited to one type of user.

One person uses it to quietly get their daily steps in. Another runs a few kilometers in the evening, and someone else uses it for a tough workout.

That makes a treadmill interesting as a shared fitness device in the home. Everyone determines their own speed, time, and goal.

And that aligns with how we at Activora view home fitness: there isn't one right way to move.

But won't such a treadmill get in the way tremendously?

That was a legitimate concern for many years.

Traditional treadmills were large, heavy, and honestly not something you wanted in the middle of your living room.

Fortunately, modern treadmills have become much more compact. Some models are foldable or easy to move, meaning a permanent home gym isn't necessary at all.

And design plays an increasingly important role.

In our opinion, home fitness equipment shouldn't just be functional. If something becomes part of your home, it should also look good.

From 'I still need to work out' to 'I'm going to move for a bit'

Perhaps that is ultimately the biggest change.

Exercise is often seen as an activity for which you have to change clothes, go to a specific location, and set aside at least an hour.

But moving doesn't have to be that complicated.

A home treadmill literally makes the distance between thinking "I really should move a bit" and actually starting just a few steps long.

Shoes on.

Treadmill on.

And go.

No travel time. No crowded changing room. No bad weather. No complicated training plan.

Just move when it suits you.

Is a home treadmill worth it?

Ultimately, that mainly depends on one question:

Will you use it?

A treadmill that sits untouched in a room for months is, of course, not a good investment.

But if it ensures that you move multiple times a week at moments when you would otherwise probably have remained seated, the story changes.

Then you're not just buying a piece of fitness equipment.

You're making movement more accessible in your daily life.

And perhaps that's exactly what we need to ultimately stick with it.

Move your way.
